From the Desk of the Preschool Center Director

Posted September 28, 2014

Welcome to the new school year. I am so excited to get started developing relationships with you and your child!

We believe in developing the whole child through play, academics, and family partnerships. I look forward to family activities such as parent meetings, parent-child night, parent-teacher conferences, and so much more. If you would like to volunteer, we welcome you — please talk to your child’s classroom teacher.

This year, we will feature our enrichment programs, and we invite you get involved. The 2-year-olds will have Music Together through Marsha’s Music once a week beginning in October. The 3- to 5-year-olds will have Spanish under the instruction of Lango. All the children will take part in storytelling by Oba William King the poetic storyteller.

New this year is a parenting program called YOU: Your Child’s First Teacher. YOU is a book series by Sunny P. Chico that guides parents from the birth of their child through high school graduation and beyond. The program is built to show parents how important and impactful their role is on their child’s education, and it empowers them to engage with their child’s school confidently and effectively. YOU intends to change the culture of parenting by empowering parents with the tools to help their children succeed.

A few days ago, you should have received an invitation to a special ribbon cutting and reception for our first-floor lobby. We hope you’ll join us to celebrate the new Natalie and Ben Heineman Welcome Center. Please be aware, too, that there may be more people — and fewer parking spaces — when you pick up your child that day.

And finally, I invite you to “like” the CCCS page on Facebook and “follow” CCCS on Twitter. Both are refreshed often with news, updates, photos, and other items of interest. Check them out!
