Dara T. Munson, CEO of Chicago Child Care Society, is a philanthropist, active community volunteer, leadership coach and nonprofit executive.
Her career has focused largely on the needs of at-risk children, and she has a special passion for issues affecting women and girls. Dara is fervent about serving youth and lives it every day.
She served as Chief Operating Officer of Girl Scouts of Southeastern Michigan from August 2014 to January 2016, where she launched a major customer relationship management platform serving nearly 8,000 volunteers and 23,000 girls.
She has been a mentor through Big Brothers Big Sisters since 2005 and was President and CEO from 2007 until 2014.
Dara has worked in the criminal justice, juvenile justice and public philanthropy fields. She served in several capacities with the United Way for Southeastern Michigan, including senior director of Resource Investment and Community Partnerships, responsible for the management of local offices throughout the tri-county area.
Dara currently serves on the Eastern Michigan University Foundation Board of Trustees. A graduate of Leadership Detroit, she is a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., as well as The Renaissance (Michigan) Chapter of the Links, Inc., where she co-chairs the Services to Youth Facet. Previous board membership includes the State of Michigan Board of Social Work; Alternative for Girls; Hospice of Michigan, S.E. Michigan Regional Advisory Board; and Open Arms Grieving Children’s Program.
Dara has earned numerous awards and honors. For example, she was named one of Diversity MBA Magazine’s 2011 Diverse Executive and Emerging Leaders, which targets women and multicultural professionals in corporate America. Dara also received the 2011 Inspirational Leadership Award from the Detroit Regional Chamber’s Inaugural Leadership Detroit Awards. A recipient of the 2010 Eastern Michigan University Alumni Association Achievement Award, Dara was a 2009 honoree of Crain’s Detroit Business 40 Under 40.
A native Detroiter, Dara is a graduate of Cass Technical High School (Detroit). She holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice from Eastern Michigan University (Ypsilanti, Mich.) and a Master of Science Degree in Public Administration from Central Michigan University (Mt. Pleasant, Mich.).

Curt Holderfield is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who received his Masters of Social Work degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He has 20 years of experience in the field of child welfare in the areas of direct service and program management. Starting as a child and family therapist for Chicago Child Care Society in 2000, Curt has been providing supervision and management over a variety of programs at the agency for several years before moving into his current position as Associate Director. In this role, Curt provides day-to-day management over all of Chicago Child Care Society’s programming with a focus on program development, growth and strategic planning. In addition to his responsibilities at the agency, Curt also serves as the chairperson of the Child Welfare Employee Licensing Board and is an advisory board member of the Fatherhood Educational Institute.
